Music Ministries

Praise Team

Primarily, the Praise Team supports worship through music at services. While the core instrumentation is guitar, drums, keyboard, bass, and vocals, the group has included participation from violinists, cellists, horn players, and many others.

The group rehearses regularly, at least once a week in preparation for Sunday Morning Services. The ensemble prepares numerous Praise and Worship songs from contemporary artists such as Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, and Phil Wickham. Praise Team members spend considerable time developing musicianship and polishing fundamental musical elements while engaging a variety of musical styles.

Participants vary in experience and skill levels. The Praise Team is always looking for new musicians and welcomes anyone who has interest and likes to sing and/or play an instrument.

Technical Support Team

The Technical Support Team enhances events with sound reinforcement, multimedia, and special lighting. The group features sound and multimedia technicians.

Sound techs are trained, at minimum, in the basic tenets of sound reinforcement: using proper audio cabling, setting up microphones, connecting instruments, and producing mixes at the sound board. They also regularly perform the business of capturing live, digital recordings at church events.

Multimedia techs learn to execute the multimedia cues at live gatherings. They run PowerPoint presentations, videos, and lyrical slides during congregational singing. In addition to performing multimedia-related tasks at the computer, multimedia techs support any special lighting at church functions.

Praise Team Workshop

Praise Team Workshop happens twice a month: the second and fourth Wednesday from 5 PM - 6 PM in the BFCN church sanctuary. These times are reserved for musicians to gain experience while learning music, especially in the context of a contemporary praise team.

No membership is required. All ages and skill levels are encouraged to participate, especially those at the beginning stages.

Music Analysis

Music Analysis happens once a month: the first Wednesday of each month at 7:10 PM in the sanctuary. Here, those who participate listen to different musical recordings and then discuss related elements. This educational setting supports topics such as instrumentation, style, artistry. Even some fundamental ear-training is included from time-to-time.

Anyone who likes to learn and discuss music is invited.
